Pune: Junnar Forest Division Implements Initiatives to Prevent Leopard Conflicts

Ambegaon, 11th December 2024: The Maharashtra Forest Department, under its Leopard Rapid Action Force Campaign, has distributed safety tents and 100 solar lights to 40 shepherds. The Junnar Forest Division is implementing various initiatives to raise awareness and protect people from leopards while providing direct assistance. These safety measures were introduced through the efforts of Deputy Forest Conservator Amol Satpute.

The distribution of tents and solar lamps was carried out by Deputy Conservator Amol Satpute and Bhimashankar Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Vice Chairman Pradeep Walse Patil. Additionally, a leopard rapid response team will be available to the public 24/7 to handle leopard-related emergencies, rescue operations, and public awareness efforts. Forest Range Officer Vikas Bhosale also attended the event.

According to Forest Range Officer Vikas Bhosale, the Leopard Rapid Response Force will play a crucial role in preventing future conflicts and providing timely assistance to the public. Awareness sessions were conducted on how to protect oneself and one’s family from leopards, and the proper use of the distributed safety tents and solar lights was emphasized. Shepherds were instructed on how to use these resources effectively for self-defence and family safety.
