Katraj, 16th May 2025: A major anti-encroachment drive was carried out on the Katraj-Kondhwa road within the jurisdiction of the Katraj-Kondhwa-Yewalewadi Ward Office, following persistent complaints from citizens about inconvenience and traffic congestion. Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale had ordered the action in response to these ongoing issues.

The joint operation, conducted by the Building Development Department and the Encroachment Department under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Khalate and Deputy Commissioner Jayant Bhoskar of Zone 4, targeted illegal structures from Rajas Society Chowk to Khadi Machine Chowk. The team included Assistant Commissioner Laxman Kadbane, sub-engineers, branch engineers, junior engineers, regional encroachment inspectors, ten assistant encroachment inspectors, three municipal police personnel, and ten Maharashtra Security Force staff.

During the drive, a total of 7,500 square feet of encroachments and 16 temporary and permanent sheds were cleared. Additionally, seven truckloads of materials were seized, according to ward encroachment inspector Megha Raut.

Assistant Commissioner Laxman Kadbane emphasized the seriousness of the action, stating, “After unauthorized encroachments on the road, action has been taken as per the Commissioner’s orders and such drives will continue in the future. Therefore, no one should encroach on the road, otherwise they will have to face action.” PMC has made it clear that strict measures will persist to keep public spaces and roadways free from illegal occupation.
