Pune, 18th June 2023: Sanjay Kumar, IAS, Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India, today visited Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ganeshkhind Road, to inaugurate an exhibition focused on Foundational Literacy & Numeracy.

The exhibition, titled “TLMs Used For FLN Activities” under Janbhagidari, was graced by esteemed guests including Prachi Pandey, IA & AS, Joint Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India, and Vice Chairperson of KVS, along with Nidhi Pandey, Commissioner of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, New Delhi.

Sona Seth, Deputy Commissioner of KVS, welcomed the dignitaries, and the event was attended by  Shabana Khan, the Principal of the venue school, as well as other Principals and HMs from various Kendriya Vidyalayas in Pune. The students from neighboring Kendriya Vidyalayas presented a captivating cultural program.

The chief guest, Sanjay Kumar, inaugurated the exhibition, where an array of student- and teacher-created teaching and learning materials were displayed, showcasing their innovative approach to education.

Sona Seth, Deputy Commissioner of KVS Mumbai Region, extended a ‘Green Welcome’ to the esteemed guests. This was followed by a welcome address from Nidhi Pandey, Commissioner of KVS, New Delhi. In her speech, she expressed her commitment to Foundational Literacy and Numeracy by implementing student mapping with various parameters and adapting teaching strategies to meet the unique needs of learners. She also emphasized the importance of teaching students to take charge of their physical and emotional well-being.

Prachi Pandey, IA & AS, Joint Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India, highlighted the significance of integrating data collection and analysis with modern learning techniques and technology.

During his address, Sanjay Kumar, IAS, Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India, emphasized the need to make the teaching and learning process a joyful and engaging experience. He stressed the pivotal role of teachers in bringing about a positive transformation in the lives of their students. Furthermore, he encouraged teachers to nurture students’ curiosity by inspiring them to ask questions and explore their interests.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Samaj V. Joglekar, expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries and attendees for their valuable presence and contributions to the event.
