Pune: Khadak Police Station Officials Arrest Wanted MCOCA Accused

Pune, 8th April 2023: Khadak Police station officials have arrested an accused in an MCOCA crime case after he had been absconding for almost four months.

The accused, identified as Kumar Ramesh Londhe (26), a resident of Katraj, was apprehended by the police team on his way to meet relatives in Katraj after they received a tip-off.

The investigation team, comprising policemen Sandeep Talekar, Mangesh Gaikwad, Akshay Kumar Wable, had received the information about Londhe.

The incident leading to the arrest occurred on 24th November 2022 when the complainant and his friend were assaulted with sharp weapons in Shukrawar Peth after he refused to pay extortion money of Rs 40,000. An FIR was registered, and the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) was invoked. ACP (Faraskhana Division) Satish Govekar was appointed as the investigating officer, and during the investigation, five accused were arrested while Londhe remained at large.

The arrest of Londhe is seen as a significant breakthrough in the case, and the police officials have commended the efforts of the team involved in the investigation. The team comprised Senior Inspector of Police Sangita Yadav, Inspector (Crime) Sampatrao Raut, Assistant Police Inspector Rakesh Jadhav, and police personnel Mahesh Kutal, Sandip Talekar, Mangesh Gaikwad, Akshay Kumar Wable, Vishal Jadhav, Rafiq Nadaf, Lakhan Dhaware, Nitin Jadhav, Mahesh Jadhav, Rani Jadhav, and Nivedita Kondhalkar.
