Pune, 14th May 2023: In the wake of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to DIAT, Khadakwasla Dam Chowpatty and Sinhagad Fort has been closed for tourists.
Both these places will be completely closed to tourists till 2.00 pm tomorrow (May 15). The Haveli Police and Forest Department have started strict enforcement in this regard. Tourists, however, are seen expressing strong displeasure as this action was taken suddenly without any prior notice.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit the Defense Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) adjacent to the Khadakwasla Dam. Due to the weekend, a large number of tourists usually come to Khadakwasla and Sinhagad areas and as a result, there is a huge traffic jam in the evening.
Therefore, Khadakwasla Chowpatty and Sinhagad Fort have been closed for tourists for security reasons and to avoid any hindrance during the visit of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
Balasaheb Jivde, Conservator of Forests, Sinhagad informed, “Sinhagad will be closed from 12.30 pm today to 2.00 pm tomorrow. There may be a slight change in this after receiving instructions from the police administration.”
“Khadakwasla Chowpatty has been asked to remain closed for the whole day today and till about 2.00 pm tomorrow. Necessary measures are being taken under the guidance of seniors after reviewing the security. Cooperation of tourists and citizens is expected,” informed Sachin Wangde, Police Inspector, Haveli Police Station.
