Pune: Khadki Police Recover Valuables Worth Rs 28 Lakh From Robbers

Pune, December 23, 2020: Pune City Police have arrested an active member of the ‘Qureshi’ gang for allegedly preparing to rob a goldsmith’s shop in Khadki.

The accused has been identified as Alex Lawrence Grams(21), resident of Gopi Chawl, Bopodi.

According to police, on the night of October 29, 2020, a gang was preparing to rob a goldsmith’s shop within the limits of Khadki police station. Sub-Inspector Pratap Giri received secret information about the accused that he has come to Khadki bazaar which led to the arrest of the accused on December 16, 2020.

The initial probe revealed that Alex was an active member of the Qureshi gang and that he and his accomplices had stolen several two and three-wheelers from various areas of Pune District.

During the interrogation, the accused confessed to committing various crimes with the Qureshi gang in Pune city and Pimpri Chinchwad as well as Solapur, Ahmednagar, and other districts of Maharashtra. 40 cases of theft have been uncovered and vehicles worth Rs. 28,36,000 have been seized from the accused.

This action was taken under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Dattatrya Chavan, Police Inspector (Crime) Shafil Pathan, Sub-Inspector (Detection branch) Pratap Giri, Sub-Inspector Amol Bhosale, Police Constable Sagar Jadhav, Police Naik Santosh Sawant, Ganesh Lokhande, Rajkiran Pawar, Poona Ganesh Kale Police Constable Sandeep Gaikwad, Aniruddha Sonawane, Dhawal Lonakar, Bhagwan Humberde, P.Co. Mahadev Gopnar, Swapnil Gholap, Mhaske, Pathan, Shewale, and PCO Vivek Basangar.

Sub-Inspector Pratap Giri of Khadki police station is further investigating the case.
