Pune Kidnapping Horror: 7-Year-Old Girl Killed, Two Children Rescued in Shirur

Shirur, 25th February 2025: Three children were kidnapped in Shirur Taluka, Pune District. One of the girls was killed, and her body was disposed of in a well. Pune Rural Police successfully rescued the other two children and arrested the accused, causing shock throughout the district. The murdered girl has been identified as Gayatri Ranjit Kumar Ravidas, a 7-year-old resident of Vadagaon, Shirur.

Shikrapur Police arrested Baban Rampir Yadav, a 42-year-old resident of Koregaon Bhima. According to police reports, Gayatri, along with Kartik Ravidas and Abhijeet Paswan (both aged 3), went missing on 22nd February. Vina Devi Ravidas filed a complaint at Shikrapur Police Station, prompting an investigation by Shikrapur Police in collaboration with the Local Crime Branch (LCB).

The investigation included reviewing CCTV footage, which revealed Baban Yadav taking the children on his motorcycle. The police discovered that the two rescued children were located in Bahul village in Khed Taluka along Chakan-Shikrapur Road. Both children were rescued at that location, and Yadav was arrested on-site.

During interrogation, Yadav confessed to kidnapping and killing Gayatri Ravidas. It was revealed that Yadav had an affair with Gayatri’s maternal aunt. However, due to opposition from Gayatri’s mother and other family members, Baban Yadav kidnapped the children as an act of revenge. Shikrapur Police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
