Pune: Kinetic Green appoints Debashis Mitra as President of 3-Wheeler Business

Pune, 29th April 2024: Kinetic Green Energy and Power Solutions Limited, a pioneering manufacturer in India’s electric vehicle industry, has appointed Debashis Mitra as the President of its 3-wheeler Business division. The announcement, made on April 29, 2024, marks a significant milestone in Kinetic Green’s strategic endeavors, bringing aboard Mitra’s extensive expertise and leadership spanning over three decades in the automotive sector.

With a commitment to innovation and the ‘Make in India’ initiative, Kinetic Green has established itself as a trailblazer in the electric three-wheeler (E3W) market. Leveraging its in-house research and development (R&D) capabilities, the company has introduced a diverse range of L3 and L5 models of E3Ws, catering to both passenger and cargo segments. As part of its expansion plans, Kinetic Green aims to venture into the L5 passenger segment, augmenting its existing offerings and market presence.

Mitra brings a wealth of experience from his distinguished career, having held senior leadership positions in prominent companies across the automotive industry. His professional journey includes notable stints at AltiGreen, Greaves Cotton, Mercedes Benz, Toyota Kirloskar, Hindustan Motors, and Atlas Copco. Noteworthy achievements punctuate his tenure, such as spearheading remarkable growth in passenger car sales during his tenure at Mercedes Benz India, where he achieved a 38% market share.

In his most recent role at AltiGreen, Mitra played a pivotal role in capturing a significant market share in the three-wheeler L5 category within a short span. His strategic initiatives, including network expansion and financial partnerships, contributed to sustainable growth and market penetration.

At Kinetic Green, Mitra’s primary focus will be on advancing the company’s 3-wheeler business, driving network expansion, and enhancing market share in the burgeoning E3W market. His appointment is expected to play a crucial role in steering Kinetic Green’s expansion initiatives, underscoring the company’s commitment to innovation and market leadership in the E3W segment.

Furthermore, Mitra will oversee the entire Profit and Loss responsibilities of the 3-wheeler Strategic Business Unit (SBU), collaborating closely with R&D and operations/sourcing leadership to drive efficiency and product innovation.

In line with its growth objectives, Kinetic Green has announced an ambitious expansion plan for the fiscal year 2024-25. The company aims to double its dealership network from 160 to over 350 dealerships, with plans to add 200 new dealers across the country. Additionally, Kinetic Green has set a sales target of 20,000 E2W for the year 2024-25.

Debashis Mitra will succeed Paul Zacharia as the President of the 3-wheeler Business division, upon Zacharia’s retirement in June 2024.
