Pune : Koregaon Park police files case for spreading rumour about Coronavirus patient

Pune, March 16,2020: Taking a strong stand against rumours related to Coronavirus COVID19, Pune city police has registered case an unidentified person for sending fake messages related Coronavirus patients being present at a hotel in Koregaon Park.

 

The accused person had sent messages to Pune Divisional Commissioner Dr Deepak Mhaisekar around 10 pm on Sunday. The multiple messages claimed that there are Coronavirus positive patients at hotels.

 

A thorough check was conducted and the information turned out to be false. Accordingly, Mhaisekar lodged a complaint with Koregaon Park police station. The cops are investigating the case.

 

In Pune, 16 persons have been found positive till now, while the reports of 20 others are awaited.

 

The State Government has issued a notification for the implementation of the provisions the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 in the State from 13 March 2020 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

 

The Disaster Management Act has also been implemented for better utilisation of resources and taking action against medical shops if they sell masks, sanitizers etc, currently in demand, at exorbitant prices.
