Pune: Koregaon Park Police Officials Solve Eight Thefts With Arrest of Two Accused

Koregaon Park, 19th April 2023: Officials from the Koregaon Park police station have apprehended two persons from Tamil Nadu, claiming to have solved eight cases. The accused were involved in stealing valuables from parked cars, either by breaking into them or by deceiving people by claiming that their vehicle had a flat tire or that money had fallen on the road.

On 11th April, a theft case was reported at the Koregaon Park Police Station in Pune City, where a black laptop bag and other contents worth Rs. 1,12,000/- were stolen from a four-wheeler parked outside Wellness Medical on Dhole Patil road. The complainant stated that two unidentified individuals had stolen the bag with their consent.

A prompt investigation was launched, with two teams formed under the guidance of senior police officers. Acting on a tip-off received by Assistant Police Inspector Dattatray Ligade and Sub-Inspector Shrikant Sawant, two persons were apprehended near Modern Cafe in Shivajinagar. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the duo had committed multiple crimes by breaking into parked cars and pretending to have a flat tire while stealing valuables.

The two accused have been identified as Rajasekhar Dhanshilan, aged 37, and Giridharan Umanath, aged 20, both residents of Tamil Nadu. They were found to have committed crimes in Koregaon Park, Alankar, Shivajinagar, and Deccan Police Stations. The gang would steal valuables from parked cars by breaking into them or by tricking unsuspecting car owners into thinking they had a flat tyre.

The investigation team consisted of Senior Police Inspector Vinayak Vetal, Police Inspector (Crime) Dipali Bhujbal, Assistant Police Inspector Dattatray Ligade, Sub-Inspector Shrikant Sawant, and Police Constables Namdev Khilare, Vijay Sawant, Vishal Gade, Rama Thombre, Vilas Toge, Ramzan Sheikh, Ganesh Gaikwad, Vivek Jadhav, Sachin Bhosale, Balaji Ghodke, and Pravin Padwal.
