Wakad, 2nd May 2025: In a strong move towards environmental sustainability, La Melosa CHS Ltd, located in Wakad, Pimpri Chinchwad, inaugurated its rooftop solar power project on May 1, marking a new milestone in community-led clean energy adoption. The project, with an installed capacity of 76 kW and featuring 139 Adani bifacial mono 545W panels, is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 100 tons annually—the equivalent of saving 3,300 trees each year.

Launched in October 2024 with detailed feasibility studies and vendor assessments, the initiative reached completion in just one month of execution in April 2025. The ₹70 lakh project was made viable with assistance from the Central Financial Assistance (CFA) scheme by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) under the Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Program.

“This project represents a collective commitment by our residents to build a sustainable future. It was made possible through the unwavering support of our managing committee and the dedication of the solar committee,” said Chetan Bhadane, a resident of La Melosa CHS. “We are proud to contribute meaningfully to climate action and urban sustainability.”

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of dignitaries such as Vijaysheth Jagtap, Bharatitai Vinode, Vishal (Appa) Kalate, Rambhau Wakadkar, and Snehatai Kalate, who lauded the society’s efforts in adopting renewable energy at a residential level.

The success of this green initiative was driven by the active participation of several residents and managing committee members including Singh, Santosh Pawar, Kunal Jain, Shrikant Khating, Datta Ghodekar, Neeraj Deshmukh, Hemant Shirsath, Rohan Dange, and Ravindra Ghatge, among others. The project was executed by Yubi Solar, with the solar committee comprising Rahul Patil, Vinayak Bedake, Mohit Titarmare, and Amit playing a crucial role in seamless implementation.

Beyond Solar: Waste Management and Water Recycling Initiatives
Building on its solar success, La Melosa is now set to launch a comprehensive waste management program, focusing on segregation, recycling, and treatment. This initiative will be conducted in collaboration with the Swarnlata Motherson Trust and the Indian Pollution Control Association.

Additionally, the society has upgraded its Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) to boost water recycling efficiency and ensure compliance with health and safety norms. It has also adopted rainwater harvesting and launched community-led biodiversity programs such as tree plantation and seedball dispersal.

In a push toward holistic wellness, La Melosa has been organizing health check-ups and blood donation drives, promoting not just environmental sustainability but also community health.

With this multi-layered sustainability approach, La Melosa CHS is emerging as a model for urban residential societies aiming to reduce their ecological footprint while fostering community participation.
