Pune: Lab At IISER Catches Fire, No Injuries Reported
Pune, 15th March 2023: On Tuesday evening, a lab at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Pashan reportedly caught fire. The fire was put out in minutes; there were no reported injuries in the incident.
The IISER’s “H-Cross” physics laboratory’s UPS unit is located in the room where the fire was reported at around 9:30 p.m., according to officials with the Pune Municipal Corporation’s fire brigade department.
The IISER authorities, according to the fire brigade officials, were already responding to the fire when they arrived after receiving a call. The fire was quickly extinguished. Quite a quantity of smoke had gathered as a result of the fire. The building was evacuated as soon as the fire broke out, hence there were no recorded casualties. While an investigation will identify the source of the incident, the officials suspect it could have been caused by a short circuit.
