Pune: Landlord Deceived by Tenant, Wife, and Lawyer with Fake Tenancy Agreement

Kondhwa, 8th March 2023: Kondhwa Police recently exposed a case of fraudulent tenancy agreement in which a tenant, his wife, and a lawyer collaborated to deceive the landlord. The police have booked the accused for their involvement in creating a fake tenancy agreement.

The complaint was filed by Bina Madhukar Surwade, a 60-year-old resident of Guru Nanak Nagar, Pune, who was deceived by the accused. The tenant, Riyaz Muhammad Hussain Shaikh (52), had leased the property from the complainant for eleven months, starting from February 10, 2022, to January 3, 2023.

The accused, Riyaz Shaikh, with the help of lawyer Sudhir Shravan Sonawane (55) drafted a fake tenancy agreement for 60 months, from December 12, 2019, to December 12, 2024. The agreement falsely stated that the landlord had received Rs 60 lakhs. The accused even forged the signatures of Bina Surwade and her husband, Madhukar Surwade.

Police Sub Inspector (PSI) Birajdar is currently investigating the case.
