Pune Landowner Fined Rs 9 Lakh for Illegal Tree Cutting in Dighi

Pune, 6th June 2025: In a significant action against illegal deforestation, a landowner in Dighi, Pimpri-Chinchwad, has been fined Rs 9 lakh for cutting trees without obtaining the necessary permissions. The incident has raised concerns about unauthorized tree felling and its impact on the environment in rapidly urbanizing areas like Pune.

According to local authorities, the landowner proceeded with the cutting of several trees on private property without securing approval from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) Environmental Department. Upon discovery, officials initiated legal proceedings and imposed a fine of Rs 9 lakh as a penalty for violating environmental regulations.
