Pune: Lawyer of Rape Case Accused Kidnapped and Assaulted
Pune, 19th March 2025: In a shocking development in the ongoing rape case at Swargate Bus Depot, the assistant lawyer of the accused Datta Gade was allegedly kidnapped and assaulted. The victim has been identified as Sahil Dongre, who works under Wajed Khan Bidkar, Gade’s defense lawyer.
Confirming the incident, Wajed Khan Bidkar shared a video statement from Sahil Dongre, detailing the attack.
In the video, Dongre stated: “I had gone to Hadapsar police station in connection with a case around 10:00-10:30 pm. A client met me there and handed me ₹54,000. I noticed someone following me but ignored it. Around 1:00 am, I stopped at a petrol pump. While I was on the roadside, someone approached me asking for help. As I went closer, a car suddenly pulled up from behind, and I was forced inside. The attackers assaulted me before abandoning me at Dive Ghat. Injured, I managed to reach Hadapsar police station and filed a complaint.”
The police are currently investigating the incident. Further details are awaited.
