Pune, 22nd March 2023: Lawyers are exempted from wearing black coats in daily court proceedings in view of summer. Barring the Supreme and High Courts, all other courts and tribunals will not make it mandatory for advocates to wear black coats while appearing in the tribunals from 15th March to 30th June.

Judges take note of whether lawyers have followed the dress code in court. So even lawyers are very careful about the dress code. However, this year, the summer heat started in March. So it becomes difficult to work in this environment wearing the traditional attire of lawyers.

Considering this situation in Chapter 22 of the Civil Manual para no 636, exemption from wearing a black coat is granted every year.

Dress Code For Male Lawyers: White shirt, black or gray pants, black tie or white band

Dress Code For Female Lawyers: white or light-colored saree, salwar kurta, or black pants and white shirt with a white band.
