Pune: Legal Meteorology Dept Warns Of Action Over Use And Sell Of Non-Certified Weighing Scales
Pune 22nd August 2023: The Legal Metrology Department has warned of action over usage of Non-Certified Weighing scale. The authorized sellers who possess valid selling permits to sell weighing scale must ensure that they sell only valid weights and measurement tools.
However, the Legal Meteorology department has come across several incidents where traders are selling imported weighing scales (Chinese brands) or some Non-Certified Weighing scales imported from other states with counterfeit labels of their own names. Since these tools are Non-Certified, their use and sell is strictly illegal, said officials.
The sale or use of non-certified electronic weighing scales will be subject to legal action under the Legal Metrology Act of 2009 and its corresponding rules, D.G. Mahajan, Deputy Controller of the Legal Metrology Department said.
