Pune: Leopard Creates Panic in Chikhali, Kudalwadi; Residents Demand Enhanced Safety Measures

Chikhali, 28th December 2023: Residents of the Chikhali and Kudalwadi areas in Pimpri-Chinchwad were gripped by fear as a leopard was spotted near the Dehu-Alandi road around 5:30 am today.
The leopard was caught on CCTV. Promptly, the Chikhali Police and the Forest Department were mobilized to the location to address the potential threat. The authorities, in collaboration with wildlife experts, embarked on a six-hour-long operation to capture the elusive feline.
The sighting of the leopard caused a ripple effect of panic throughout the community, with citizens expressing anxiety about their safety. Residents who observed the leopard promptly contacted the police, initiating a widespread alert through WhatsApp to ensure the safety of others.
The incident gained further traction as a video capturing the leopard’s presence circulated on various social media platforms, intensifying the concern among the residents. The video showcases the leopard calmly traversing the area.
The joint efforts of the Chikhali Police and the Forest Department proved successful, culminating in the safe capture and containment of the leopard. Authorities are now working to relocate the animal to a more suitable habitat away from human settlements.
