Pune: Living in a 40-Year-Old MHADA Colony? Here’s What the Housing Authority Has Announced

Pune, 5th August 2026: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has assured residents of its housing colonies that it is committed to addressing their grievances, with a special focus on redevelopment and infrastructure-related issues.

Speaking at the ‘MHADA Aaplya Dari’ outreach programme organised at Gokhalenagar on the initiative of corporator Dattatraya Bahirat, MHADA Chairman Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil said many MHADA housing colonies are nearly 40 years old and are facing several structural and civic challenges.

“Most MHADA buildings are now nearly four decades old, and a number of issues have emerged over the years. To address the concerns of residents, MHADA organises a public grievance meeting every Thursday at its office. We are committed to resolving every genuine issue raised by residents,” Adhalrao Patil said.

The programme was attended by Leader of Opposition in the Pune Municipal Corporation Adv. Nilesh Nikam, corporators Dattatraya Bahirat and Anjali Orse, Nationalist Congress Party city working president Pradeep Deshmukh, former deputy mayor Anna Mukari, and MHADA Chief Executive Officer Rahul Sakore, among others.

During the event, MHADA officials, including Estate Manager Ramchandra Bhosale, architect Sanket Bhalekar, assistant engineer Prafull Lokhande, Rahul Navale and Pravin Bangar, guided residents on various housing-related issues.

Discussions primarily focused on the redevelopment of MHADA housing colonies, conveyance deeds, property cards, and the improvement of basic infrastructure and civic amenities. Residents also raised concerns over pending documentation and maintenance-related issues, urging the housing authority to expedite their resolution.
