Pune, 28th March 2025: In a shocking incident in Wanowrie, a bouncer allegedly sent by a private financial institution entered a borrower’s house and assaulted him over a missed loan installment. Two individuals have been arrested, and a case has been registered against the institution’s manager.

The accused have been identified as Akash Purushottam Sapa (32, Bhavani Peth) and Rishikesh Nagnath Chandanshive (26, Janata Vasahat, Parvati Paytha). The victim, a loan mediator, had borrowed ₹7.73 lakh from a Shivajinagar-based financial institution for his daughter’s education. After deductions for insurance and processing fees, ₹6.85 lakh was disbursed, with a monthly installment of ₹18,070.

For two years, the victim regularly paid his EMIs, but due to a family emergency—his nephew’s accident—he was forced to assist his sister financially, leading to one missed installment in March 2024.

Despite informing the lender’s Wakdewadi office about his situation on March 26, loan recovery agents continued to threaten him. On March 27, two men forcefully entered his home, refused to show identification, and verbally abused and assaulted him and his brother. They insisted they would not leave until the overdue installment was paid.

The victim immediately reported the incident to the police, who arrived at the scene and detained the attackers. Upon interrogation, one of them admitted that they were acting on the instructions of the financial institution’s manager. The manager has also been booked, and further investigations are underway.

Authorities have urged financial institutions to adhere to legal loan recovery practices and warned against using coercion and violence.
