Pune lockdown: This is how you can travel to airport, railway station or in emergency

Pune, July 11, 2020: There will be strict lockdown in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad police commissionerates and nearby villages for 10 days (July 14-23). As per instruction from the district administration, there will be a complete ban on the movement of people except in emergency cases. People will need passes for vehicle use.

Therefore, for the convenience of people Pune city traffic police and CityGlide Auto, which provided services in previous lockdowns, will again facilitate autorickshaw for emergency travel as well as cabs for airport pick up and drop.

ACP Surendra Deshmukh from Pune traffic police said, “There will be about 500 autorickshaws, cabs for providing services to people in a (medical) emergency. People can also use these services for travelling to or from the Pune airport and railway station. Their tickets/boarding passes will be considered for travel and separate passes will not be required.”

CityGlide Auto CEO Rahul Shitole said, “Pune Traffic Police along with CityGlide Auto will help people to commute easily for essential travel requirements. He further said, “Travellers will need to pay return fare as the driver will be coming empty from the airport and even he is not allowed to accept any outside passenger. Fare is as per meter. For example, if meter fare is Rs 100 then you will need to pay Rs 200.”

During lockdown between March 25 and June 16, CityGlide Auto had facilitated 22,000 trips from the 63,000 calls they had received.

Pune Police has also joined hands with Book2ride for facilitating cab service for airport, railway station and medical emergencies. Cabs are available 24 x 7 and you can call at 020-66100100 for bookings.  There is convenient tariff with no surge pricing and sanitized cars and masked drivers for safety of the traveller.
