Lohgaon, 19th October 2026: The opening of the sub-district hospital in Lohgaon has been delayed despite the completion of construction, as the facility is yet to receive the necessary permission for its inauguration.

A letter seeking approval to inaugurate the hospital was sent to the concerned authorities on September 11. However, more than one-and-a-half months later, no response has been received, according to officials.

The hospital is expected to ease the burden on Sassoon General Hospital, Pune Municipal Corporation-run hospitals and Aundh District Hospital, which are already handling a large number of patients. Residents of Wagholi and Lohgaon often have to travel long distances to access medical treatment, making the new facility crucial for the area.

The construction of the hospital building has been completed, and preparations required to make it operational are also in place. Around 90% of the staff recruitment has been completed, while ambulances under the 108 and 102 emergency services are ready to provide patient care.

Residents are now waiting for the hospital to become operational so they can access government healthcare facilities closer to home.
