Pune Lok Sabha Candidate Dr. Subroto Roy Advocates for Intellectual Leadership

Pune, 7th May 2024: Dr. Subroto Roy, a Lok Sabha candidate and founding member of the newly formed national registered Ekam Sanatan Bharata Dal, shared his insights with Punekar News ahead of the 18th Lok Sabha elections. With Pune set to cast its votes on May 13, 2024, he anticipates a wave of change.

Dr. Roy, a seasoned journalist with over 20 years of experience in Pune, having worked for esteemed publications such as Maharashtra Herald, The Times of India, Daily News & Analysis, Mid Day, and various PR and content development agencies, holds a degree in print journalism from Pune University.

Contesting in the ongoing 18th Lok Sabha elections, Dr. Roy vies for the Pune (34 LS Constituency) seat in 2024. Currently serving as the President of the Maharashtra state unit of Ekam Sanatana Bharat Dal, a political party founded by Aknur Sharma (Adv. Supreme Court of India) and award-winning writer and journalist Sandeep Deo, Dr. Roy advocates for the revival of ancient Indian sanskriti in its purest form to address the nation’s current challenges.

Citing concerns over the present administration’s approach and its claims of ‘Hindu Rashtra,’ Dr. Roy emphasizes the need to preserve India’s rich civilization.

Beyond his journalistic pursuits, Dr. Roy holds a doctorate in Music from Pune University (2006) and has undertaken post-doctoral work in communication, narratology, film music, and psychology of music. With numerous accolades in his scholarly endeavors, including international and national awards, he has contributed extensively to academia, having designed the Defence Journalism Curriculum at the Department of Defence & Strategic Studies and taught journalism at Savitribai Phule Pune University.

A self-trained scholar of international affairs, particularly South Asia, Dr. Roy has published articles in various newspapers and held leadership positions in journalism and music departments at various universities. Hailing from a middle-class traditional Indian Vedic family, he specializes in Sam Veda and is proficient in the Dhrupad form of Indian classical music.

Dr. Roy’s vision extends to the establishment of Bharata Arsheya Sansthan, aimed at promoting India’s rich Rishi tradition, and the upcoming launch of “Sanskriti Darpan,” a daily newspaper scheduled to debut in June 2024.
