Pune Firefighters Rescue 40-Year-Old Woman Trapped in School Lift in Pisoli

Pisoli, 29th July 2026: Firefighters from the Kondhwa Khurd Fire Station rescued a 40-year-old woman who was trapped inside a lift at Padmavati High School in Pisoli on Wednesday morning.

The Pune Fire Brigade received information about the incident at around 8.40 am, following which a fire tender from the Kondhwa Khurd Fire Station was dispatched to the school.

Fireman Subhash Khade, who received information about the incident, reached the spot and immediately began the rescue operation. The woman had reportedly been trapped inside the lift for around 20-25 minutes and was in a state of panic.

Khade spoke to her from outside the lift and tried to reassure her while firefighters assessed the situation.

According to the fire brigade, the lift was hydraulic, making the rescue operation more challenging. Firefighters initially used a master key to open the lift door and found that the lift had stopped midway between floors.

The firefighters also found that there was no lift room above the shaft. As a result, moving the lift upwards or downwards to rescue the woman was not considered feasible.

The firefighters therefore used technical equipment to open the inner lift door and safely brought the woman out.

After being rescued, the woman remained frightened for some time. Fire brigade personnel reassured and comforted her before providing the school staff with information about the lift and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A teacher at the school, identified as Patil Madam, thanked the firefighters and appreciated their prompt response by presenting them with roses.

Firefighters from the Kondhwa Khurd Fire Station who participated in the rescue operation included Mahesh Fadtare, Ritesh More, Sandeep Kawade, Santosh Mane and Prasad Shinde. Driver Baburao Jadhav was also part of the response team.
