Pune-Lonavala local service to start from next week; limited to essential service providers

Pune, October 6, 2020: After six months of hiatus, the Pune-Lonavala local train service will start from October 12, but for only a limited passengers like essential service workers. The passengers are required to have a QR code-based police pass. The decision came after the Maharashtra government permitted to restart local train operations in and around the cities in the Unlock 5 phase. Against this backdrop, Pune Commissioner of Police (CP), joint CP and the Railway administration held a meeting to review and decide upon measures to start the facility.

 

The local train services in Mumbai Metropolitan area have already begun; so the local administration directed to start local train services in Pune as well. For this, Pune CP Amitabh Gupta is appointed as the nodal officer.

 

Considering all the parameters, the local administration has fixed the train schedule: timings of trains from Pune station to Lonavala will at 8:05 am and 6:05 pm, whereas trains from Lonavala to Pune station will be at 8:20 am and 5:00 pm, the CP informed.

Departing from Pune station: 8.05 pm 6.05
Departure from Lonavala station: 8.20 pm 5.05

 

Rules for passengers

– QR code-based police pass mandatory for passengers
– Employees of State Government, Central Government Offices,
Banks, Private Hospitals etc. are eligible for travel
– Employees should go to the link www.punepolice.in and submit
office letter, iCard, photo, fitness certificate.
– The Municipal Corporation will conduct a thermal screening of passengers.
