Pune: Loyola H.S Faces Four Defeats on a Tough Day at Memorial Hockey Event
Pune, 27th November 2024: Host Loyola H.S were in for a rude shock failing to win any of the four encounters they figured in the Fr. Schoch Memorial Inter-School Hockey 2024 at the Maj Dhyanchand Hockey Stadium, Nehrunagar, Pimpri, on Tuesday.
On a disappointing day, Loyola H.S drew their Under-17 boys encounter with Col Bhagat and later lost to Millenium H.S and Modern H.S. Later, their girls went down to Khadki Education Society 4-0 in the Under-19 girls encounter,
The tournament is being organised by Loyola High School along with ELAN (Ex-Loyola Alumni Network) and under the aegis of Hockey Maharashtra for school children for the fifth year in succession.
In the day’s opener, Loyola HS ‘A’ boys and Col Bhagat English School were locked scoreless (0-0).
Later, Khadki Education Society eves downed Loyola H.S 4-0 in the girls section. A brace by Sheha Bendre (8th, 56th) and one each by skipper Mitali Shinde (18th), Sapna Wadar (34th) held well in Khadki Education Society victory.
Loyola H.S ‘B’, later, went down 1-0 to Modern H.S for another disappointing loss. Modern’s all-important goal was scored by Mehesh Chaudhari (25th) to decide the game.
The fourth loss for Loyola HS came when Loyola H.S ‘B once again went down 1-0 to New Millenium with Rakesh M (57th) netting the winner.
In another encounter, Lokmanya Tilak H.S worked up a 5-0 win over Col Bhagat English School. Vaishnavi Malme (7th), Manvi Julale (9th), Pushpalata Akhade (42nd – p.c), Arpita Kanjare (45th) and Mrunali Bagade (47th) scored one goal each.
Earlier on Monday late, the Under-19 Girls section had New Millenium down Loyola H.S 1-0 with Hetvi Cotaliya (59th) netting the match-winner. Later, New Millenium doubled their win with a 2-1 win over Modern HS. The winners netted via a brace of goals by Rakesh M (6th, 59th), while Modern had Swayambha Parde (16th) reduced the margin.
In the boys section on Monday, Col Bhagat English thumped Ramchandra Gaikwad 10-0. The highlight was a three-goal effort by Ayan Shah (25th – p.c, 16th p.c, 55th), two by Kadar Khan (25th p.c, 46th) and a goal each by Abhishekh Varma (2nd), Shahid Shaikh (3rd), Numair Shaikh (30th); Arbaaz Khan (32nd) and Maruf Khan (51st – p.c)
