Hinjawadi, 14th March 2026: The ongoing shortage of commercial LPG cylinders has begun affecting companies in Hinjawadi IT Park, disrupting food services in major corporate campuses. At one large IT company campus, a temporary interruption in LPG supply has affected cooking operations at the food court and cafeteria.

According to an internal email sent to employees, regular cooking in the campus food court is currently not possible due to the LPG supply issue. As a result, only limited food items are being served in the cafeteria. The company has also informed employees that food will be sourced from external kitchens until the situation improves.

Employees have been advised to bring lunch from home if possible. The company has also requested teams to avoid organising office events, meetings, or other activities that require catering services until the LPG supply is restored.

The company said efforts are underway to normalise the LPG supply and expressed hope that the situation will improve soon. Until then, food services on the campus will continue in a limited capacity.

Thousands of employees report to the Pune campus daily, and the disruption in food services has caused inconvenience for many. Employees pointed out that the company has already implemented a strict return-to-office policy, making daily office attendance mandatory for several teams.

Employee group Forum for IT Employees has demanded that companies temporarily allow work-from-home options to reduce inconvenience during the crisis.

Meanwhile, the supply of commercial LPG cylinders in the city has largely been halted. Due to the shortage, several restaurants in Pune are also struggling to continue operations. Many hotels are running with limited menus or preparing to shut temporarily as cylinder stocks run out.

The situation has created additional difficulties for unmarried employees and those living in Pune without family support, as they depend heavily on office food courts and nearby eateries for their daily meals.
