Pune, 12th January 2023: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority’s (PMRDA) ambitious Mahalunge-Maan Town Planning Scheme has recently been approved by the Maharashtra state government. The flood line of the Mula and Mutha rivers has been fixed and re-arranged.

Also, regarding the changes in this scheme, residents will be heard again by appointing an arbitrator. Therefore, there is a possibility that this plan, which has been stalled for three years, will go through.

PMRDA had taken up the work of the Mahalunge-Maan Urbanization Scheme on 250 hectares in the first phase. This city was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. This scheme received all approvals. Also, the allotment of the plot was decided by the PMRDA after hearing the objections and suggestions. It was planned by PMRDA to prepare the property card of the allotted plot and distribute it to the residents. However, due to some reasons, this plan was stalled.

Speaking about this, PMRDA’s deputy collector Ramdas Jagtap said, “After the Water Resources Department determined the flood line of Mula-Mutha river, some plots were re-planned as they were coming under the flood line. It has recently received approval from the state government.”

“An arbitrator has been appointed to hear the change and the work has reached its final stage. After the completion of this work, the implementation will be started. At present, the work of roads and three flyovers in this urban planning scheme has been started by PMRDA,” he added further.

The flood line of the Mula and Mutha rivers was not shown while planning this scheme. It has been determined by the Water Resources Department and received by the PMRDA. Therefore, there were changes in the flood line between some plots on the banks of these two rivers. Hence, the plan had to be revised again.

By issuing a public statement, PMRDA started the work of restructuring this scheme. Hence, there have been changes again in the field of urban planning. As a result, the plot to be allotted has also had to be changed. The newly revised town planning plan was again sent to the state government for approval. It was recently approved by the state government.
