SSPU and PMC conduct panel discussions on Skill development ahead of G20 summit

Pune, 12 Janauary 2023: Panel discussion, Elocution competition, Symbi-G20 quiz competition, Research paper presentation competition – The Symbiosis Skills and Professional University (SSPU) is going all out in the build-up to G20 Summit. SSPU students posing representatives of all 20 countries of G20 group participated in Mock conferences and panel discussions organized by the varsity in association with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Tuesday.

India holds the Presidency of the G20 from 1 December 2022 to 30 November 2023. The theme of India’s G20 Presidency is – “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth. One Family. One Future” Various tracks will be organized during the period and to set the tone for the education track various activities were organized by SSPU.

Dr. Swati Mujumdar, Pro-Chancellor, SSPU in her welcome address shared about the panel discussions and other competitions held. She added, “Education and Skill development are pillars that drive the economical and industrial growth of our country. It is important to deliberate on various tracks, which are being discussed during the panel discussion. In the G20 conclave, it is important to focus on skill development as a sector. Skill India is an important pillar for Make in India.” She also stressed that youth should be involved to solve local problems and shared about the various collaboration between SSPU students and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) where students are working on various activities in PCMC.

Eminent personalities from different fields participated in the panel discussion. Mr. Ranjit Naiknavare, upcoming president of CREDAI, Mr. Hemant Sonawane, Executive director, Maha Metro, Mr. Sanjay Kolte, CEO, Smart City Pune and Dr. Swati Mujumdar, Pro-Chancellor, SSPU was a part of the first-panel discussion on topic ‘Future of Urban infra in light of the G20’.

While another panel discussion was conducted on the topic ‘Education, Skill Development, and Cross-border migration’. Panelists for the topic were Mr. Rahul Mehta, CEO, Furniture and Fitting Sector Council, Rakesh Baweja, Sr. VP, FIAT India, Ms. Dhanashree Page, Head operations, CSE, Capgemini and Dr. Swati Mujumdar, Pro-Chancellor, SSPU.

Ranjit Naiknavare, upcoming president of CREDAI one of the panelists spoke about the G20 and its relevance to infrastructure and real estate. He said, “Skilling is a big requirement in the country. We are progressing in various sectors like IT, healthcare, and industries, but construction is the sector that is lagging behind and the main reason is that technology is not able to provide the solution that we required where we can build housing.” Mr. Kolte focused on the Smart city mission, its vision, objectives and strategies. While Mr. Sonawane talked about the status of the Pune Metro and future plans.

Earlier day, students enthusiastically participated in the Elocution competition, Symbi-G20 quiz competition, and Research paper presentation competition.
