Pune, 19th May 2025: The Maharashtra state education department is set to kick off the online admission process for First Year Junior College (FYJC) for the academic year 2025–26. This year, the centralized online admission system will cover 9,281 junior colleges across eight divisions in the state, offering over 20.43 lakh seats.

The admission portal www.mahafyjcadmissions.in will go live for student registrations and preference submissions on May 21, and the process will remain open till 6 PM on May 28. A trial run or mock session will be held on May 19 and 20 to help students understand how to navigate the system.

“We’re fully prepared to handle the online admission process. The dry run is meant to minimize confusion and help students practice before the actual application window opens,” said an official from the directorate of education.

The admission system spans major academic streams — Science (8.52 lakh seats), Commerce (5.40 lakh seats), and Arts (6.50 lakh seats) — across Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Kolhapur, Amravati, Latur, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The Konkan division will conduct admissions independently and is not part of the centralized process.

Students may list up to 10 preferred junior colleges and apply under eligible quotas such as management, minority, or in-house categories.

A provisional merit list will be published on May 30, after which candidates will have until 4 PM on June 1 to raise objections or make necessary corrections.

The final merit list is scheduled for release on June 3, followed by the zero round of seat allotment on June 5. Those allotted their first-choice colleges must confirm admission by uploading and verifying their documents between June 6 and 12. The list of vacant seats for the second round will be published on June 14.

The department has urged applicants and parents to follow the timeline and instructions strictly. “We’ve provided a helpline and an email address for students or institutions facing any technical challenges,” the official added.
