Pune: Maharashtra Government To Host Hindavi Swarajya Mahotsav 2023 At Fort Shivneri on Shiv Jayanti

Junnar/Pune, 16th February 2023: The Maharashtra government’s Tourism Department and the Pune District Administration have partnered to host various events at Shivneri Fort on the occasion of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary from February 18 to 20.

District Guardian Minister, Chandrakant Patil, informed the press about the upcoming event, where Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, MP Shrimant Chhatrapati Udayan Raje Bhosale, and many other dignitaries are expected to be present.

Apart from celebrating Shiv Jayanti with great enthusiasm, the government aims to promote the folk culture and historical heritage of Maharashtra to the younger generation and increase tourism in the state. The Tourism Department of Maharashtra Government has created a schedule of essential activities in the state, and Shiv Jayanti is one of the most awaited celebrations.

Around one lakh Shiva devotees are expected to participate in this three-day event. Various events have been planned, including ‘Shiva Kaline Gaon,’ a first-time Mahashiv Aarti, Shiv Vandana, traditional cultural programs, college student camps, various competitions, tourist trips, and more. The main attraction of the festival is the program, ‘Marathi Baana,’ directed by famous director Ashok Hande.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s 393rd birth anniversary and 350 years of his coronation are the main highlights of this year’s celebrations. He is Maharashtra’s identity and an inspiration for many. The forts built by him to protect Swaraj are the primary tourist attractions in the state, including Shivneri, Raigad, and Sindhudurg.

On the occasion of Shiv Jayanti, the government aims to convey the essence of Hindavi Swarajya and its glory to the younger generation. Minister Mr. Patil has requested citizens to participate in the celebrations to pay respect to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and showcase pride in the folk culture of Maharashtra.

The event will commence on February 18 with the inauguration of ‘Hindavi Swarajya Mahotsav 2023’ at 6:30 pm, followed by the Marathi Baana program directed by Ashok Hande from 7 pm to 10 pm.

On February 19, birthday celebrations will be held at Shivneri fort from 9 am to 11 am, along with Shiv Vandana from 3 pm to 5 pm, the first-time Mahashiv Aarti program from 6.15 pm to 7 pm and a ‘Jaanta Raja’ program from 7 pm to 10 pm.

On February 20, the Janata Raja program will be held from 7 pm to 10 pm.

There will be 300 stalls of various products and food items from different thrift groups available throughout the three-day event. Admission to this event is free and open to all. The Maharashtra government encourages citizens to participate in this celebration and witness the cultural and historical richness of Maharashtra.
