Pune: Maharashtra Governor Bais Foresees a Wave of Intelligent Minds Returning to India by 2047

Lohegaon, 16th January 2024: During the eighth graduation ceremony at Ajeenkya DY Patil University, Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais outlined his belief in the transformative power of India’s youth. The Governor expressed confidence that by 2047, the intelligent youth, who had sought opportunities abroad, would return to India, contributing to the nation’s evolution from a developing to a developed state.

The ceremony was held at Charholi Budruk campus of the university. 

Governor Bais emphasized the need for attention to sectors like agriculture, veterinary science, dairying, fisheries, and horticulture, highlighting that these fields provide employment to half of India’s population. He urged the University to collaborate with students in adopting villages for comprehensive development.

Commending students for their achievements, the Governor encouraged them to align their ideas with the vision of a developed India. Referring to India’s successes in space exploration, sports, and other domains, he urged the youth to become wealth creators and champions of startups.

Governor Bais envisioned a new era for India, where its management graduates, engineers, and scientists would establish world-class companies and consulting firms. Drawing parallels with other nations’ journeys to development, he emphasized India’s potential to benefit from global trade and investment trends, particularly in comparison to China.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Hrridaysh Deshpande provided the welcome address and university report, revealing that 847 graduates received degrees, master’s degrees, and doctorates during the ceremony.

Governor Bais concluded the ceremony by awarding gold, silver, and bronze medals, along with graduation certificates, to outstanding students across various faculties.
