Pune: Maharashtra Initiates Teacher Recruitment Drive, Over 21,000 Positions Available

Pune, 6th February 2024: The long-awaited advertisement for the recruitment of 21,678 teachers in various local self-government bodies and private educational institutions across the state of Maharashtra has been published. The recruitment initiative encompasses 16,799 positions without interviews and 4,879 positions with interviews.

The recruitment process commenced following the administration of the ‘Teacher Aptitude and Intelligence Test-2022′ conducted online through the state’s designated portal. A substantial turnout of candidates was witnessed, with 239,730 applicants registering for the test, out of which 216,443 appeared. The evaluation of candidates’ performance in this test will serve as the basis for the recruitment of educational personnel for classes 1 to 12 in both local bodies and private management schools within the state.

Despite facing challenges such as conflicting demands across various subjects and misinformation circulating on social media platforms, Education Commissioner, Suraj Mandhare, reassured that the recruitment process adheres strictly to government policies, ensuring transparency and integrity. Mandhare emphasized the substantial response from candidates, with over 7,000 expressing their preferences immediately after the announcement of available positions.

The recruitment drive spans across different institutions, with vacancies distributed as follows:

– Zilla Parishad: 12,522 vacancies across 34 institutions
– Municipal Corporation: 2,951 vacancies across 18 institutions
– Municipality: 477 vacancies across 82 institutions
– Private Educational Institutions: 5,728 vacancies across 1,123 institutions

Vacancies are further categorized based on educational levels and mediums of instruction:

– Group-wise Vacancies:
– Class I to V: 10,240 vacancies
– Class VI to VIII: 8,127 vacancies
– Class IX to X: 2,176 vacancies
– Class XI to XII: 1,135 vacancies

– Medium-wise Vacancies:
– Marathi: 18,373 vacancies
– English: 931 vacancies
– Urdu: 1,850 vacancies
– Hindi: 410 vacancies
– Gujarati: 12 vacancies
– Kannada: 88 vacancies
– Tamil: 08 vacancies
– Bengali: 04 vacancies
– Telugu: 02 vacancies

Candidates are urged to adhere to the following important notices:

– Candidates are required to lock their post-wise preferences on 8th and 9th February.
– The merit list will be published upon completion of the priority process, with the schedule to be announced soon.

In terms of statistics, the recruitment process has received a total of 163,058 certified applications, with 7,870 candidates having already set their preferences. While acknowledging the potential for temporary difficulties in the process due to its complexity and technological requirements, administrative and technical arrangements have been put in place to address any such challenges.
