Pune, 19th March 2024: The Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell of Maharashtra will oversee the entrance examination for admissions to Bachelor of Business Management/Studies (BBA, BMS) and Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) degree courses in the upcoming academic year. Admission decisions will be based on the performance in this exam.

In a significant development, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has extended its oversight to include BCA, BBA, and BMS degree programs, aligning them with professional postgraduate courses like MBA and MCA. Traditionally, CET Cell has conducted exams for admissions to Engineering, Management, and Pharmacy courses. Now, in this context, an entrance exam will be held for BCA, BBA, and BMS admissions, with selection criteria based on exam scores. The application process for the CET exam will commence shortly, as announced by the CET Cell. Detailed schedules and exam-related information will be made available on the CET Cell website in due course.

Previously, admissions to BCA, BBA, and BMS courses were managed at the college level. However, AICTE’s new mandate necessitates affiliation and compliance with its standards. Institutions offering these courses are now required to meet AICTE’s infrastructure and educational criteria. Additionally, the professional status of these courses may lead to potential fee adjustments reflecting the increased standards and resources required.
