Pune: Major Fire in Bavdhan; Photo Studio and Flats Damaged, Residents Rescued

Bavdhan, 8th December 2024: A major fire erupted at a photo studio in a five-storey building in Bavdhan’s Shindenagar on Thursday evening, causing extensive damage and filling the structure with thick smoke. Firefighters successfully rescued seven citizens trapped inside and rushed them to the hospital for first aid.

The incident was reported to the Pune Fire Brigade at 5:52 PM, prompting an immediate response. Fire engines from Kothrud, Warje, Pashan, Aundh, and Erandwane fire stations were dispatched to the site. Upon arrival, officials found the photo studio, which stored materials like flex and photo frames, engulfed in flames. The fire also affected three nearby flats, causing considerable damage.

According to fire officials, water jets were used to control the blaze from all directions. By 6:45 PM, the fire was under control, and cooling operations were underway to prevent any further flare-ups.

“A large amount of smoke had filled the building, posing a significant risk to the residents. Our team acted swiftly to rescue seven individuals and ensured they received immediate medical attention,” said fire brigade officer Gajanan Pathrudkar.

The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
