Pune: Man, 30, Stabs Step-Grandmother to Death Over Property Dispute in Navi Sangvi
Pimpri Chinchwad, 10th October 2026: A 30-year-old man allegedly stabbed his 60-year-old step-grandmother to death over a property dispute in Navi Sangvi on Friday morning before walking into the Sangvi police station and surrendering. The incident comes days after an 83-year-old man allegedly shot dead his grandson over a property dispute in Lonavala.
The deceased, Mangal Baburao Shingore, lived in Navi Sangvi, while the accused, Omkar Kisan Shingore, is a resident of Pimple Gurav. According to the police, Omkar is the son of Mangal’s stepson and has a criminal record, including cases of murder and attempted murder.
Police said Mangal owned a residential building in Navi Sangvi and that Omkar allegedly wanted a share in the property. He was reportedly upset with her for refusing to give him a share.
At around 9 am on Friday, Omkar allegedly went to Mangal’s residence and attacked her with a knife, inflicting injuries to her neck. She died in the attack, police said.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Manisha Kadam said the murder was allegedly motivated by the property dispute. After the incident, Omkar walked into the Sangvi police station and told the police that he had killed his grandmother.
Senior Police Inspector Jitendra Koli said the police verified the information and took Omkar into custody. Mangal’s daughter has lodged a complaint in the case. The Sangvi police are investigating further.
