Pune: Man Cheated Of Rs 40,000 While Cancelling Order On E-commerce Website

Alandi, 3rd January 2023: A 40-year-old Alandi resident, Kedar Sudhir Kamble, lost Rs 40,200 for cancelling an order from an online shopping site.

A stranger asked him to download an App to get the money back. After asking to scan the ATM card, he took the confidential information of the bank and transferred over Rs 40,000 to his account. This incident took place on 10th August 2022.

Kamble has filed a complaint regarding this matter at the Alandi Police Station. Consequently, a case has been filed against the unidentified.

A kitchen sink was ordered by Kamble on 10th August from Flipkart, according to the police. A phone call came to Kamble a few days later. The person on the phone told Kamble that his order has been cancelled. He asked him to download the Any Desk Remote Desktop app to get back. After that, he instructed Kamble to download an application called Alpemix and asked him to scan his ATM card. When Kamble scanned his ATM card, the accused stole the bank’s confidential information.

Based on that information, initially, Rs 20,220 and afterwards Rs 20,000 were transferred from Kamble’s financial balance and cheated. When Kamble complained about this, a case was registered against an unknown person on 31st December. Police in Alandi is expanding their investigation.
