Pune: Man Dies by Suicide After Marriage Rejection, Woman Booked for Abetment

Hadapsar, 1st March 2025: A 30-year-old man died by suicide by jumping in front of a train in the Hadapsar area after being rejected for marriage. The Wanowrie Police have filed a case against a young woman for allegedly abetting the suicide and defrauding the deceased.
The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Raju Singh, who resided in Vaiduwadi. His married sister, Gauri Rajendra Kamble (33), filed a complaint at the Wanowrie Police Station, leading to the case against the accused woman.
According to the police, Ganesh lived with his mother in Vaiduwadi, where she worked as a domestic help in the Magarpatta area. Ganesh sold water bottles at a private transport stand in Shewalewadi. He had been in a relationship with a neighboring woman for four years, and they had informed their families about their intention to marry.
The accused woman frequently asked Ganesh for money to buy clothes and groceries. She worked at a gym, and Ganesh would drop her off daily. He also paid installments for her two-wheeler. Despite Ganesh’s friends advising her, she continued to trouble him over minor issues. Recently, she had stopped talking to Ganesh, leaving him depressed.
On 7th February, Ganesh told his family that he had become indebted because of the woman. He then left home and was reported missing to the Wanowrie Police. Later, he died by suicide by jumping in front of a moving train in the Hadapsar area.
After identifying the body, Ganesh’s sister filed a complaint with the police. A case has been registered for abetment to suicide, and Police Sub-Inspector Avinash Shinde is investigating the matter.
