Pune: Man Forced To Undergo Khatna For Conversion To Islam, FIR Registered Against Three

Daund, 18th December 2022: An FIR has been registered against three persons for allegedly forcefully doing Khatna (circumcision) of a man from the scheduled caste to convert him to Islam after he married a Muslim widow.

 

Based on the complaint from 28-year-old man, who works as labourer at brick kiln in Daund, the case has been registered against Kumel Qureshi alias Haji Sahab, Asif Arif Shaikh (35), both residents of Kumbhargalli in Daund, and a doctor who is yet to be identified. Shaikh was arrested on Saturday.

 

According to police, the incident took place between 3rd and 14th October. The complainant married a Muslim widow who has two daughters. The accused threatened the couple and asked the man to convert to Islam. They barged into the couple’s rented room and forcefully circumcised the complainant to convert him to Islam.

 

The couple was frightened and did not lodge a complaint immediately. The case was registered on 16th December.

 

Police have registered the case against the accused for offences under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Deputy Superintendent of Police Rahul Dhas is investigating the case.
