Pune: Man Held With 148g Cocaine Worth Rs 74 Lakh in Khandala
Lonavala, 8th October 2026: A 28-year-old man was arrested with 148 grams of cocaine worth around Rs 74 lakh in Khandala after the Kolhapur unit of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, along with Lonavala City Police, laid a trap based on a tip-off.
The accused has been identified as Sonu Sitaram Upadhyay, 28, a resident of Derivali in Panvel, Raigad district. Police said he had allegedly arrived in the Khandala-Lonavala area to sell cocaine.
The operation was conducted between Kerawala Society and Railway Gate No. 30 in Khandala late on Wednesday night. Acting on information that a person would arrive in the area to sell narcotics, the police team laid a trap near Kerawala Society in Khandala village limits and detained Upadhyay.
During a search, police allegedly found a plastic bag wrapped in khaki-coloured adhesive tape containing 148 grams of cocaine, valued at around Rs 74 lakh.
A case has been registered at Lonavala City police station based on a complaint filed by police constable Santosh Sonawane.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Anti-Narcotics Task Force inspector Nitin Bodhe and Lonavala City police inspector Sachin Patil. Bodhe is conducting further investigation.
