Pune: Man Injured in Shooting After Dispute with Wife; Police Probe Whether he Shot Himself

Kasba Peth, 24th August 2026: A man sustained a gunshot injury to his right hand following a heated dispute with his wife near Bhairavnath Temple in Kasba Peth on Monday.

The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Faraskhana police station. While the initial information suggests that the man shot himself during the argument, police are yet to ascertain whether he actually fired the weapon himself and are investigating the circumstances of the shooting.

According to preliminary information, the argument between the couple escalated to the point where both allegedly spoke about shooting each other. The wife reportedly told her husband to “shoot himself”, while he allegedly told her to “shoot me”. A gunshot was subsequently fired, injuring the man in his right hand.

He was rushed to a hospital for treatment. The wife was also reportedly taken to a hospital and was not present at the scene when police arrived. Her statement is expected to provide further details about the incident.

Police found bloodstains, a pistol and a live cartridge at the spot. A panchnama was conducted and the weapon and other evidence were seized.

Faraskhana police are investigating the reason behind the dispute, who fired the shot, who had possession of the weapon and the exact circumstances leading to the shooting. Further details are expected after the police question the couple and examine the evidence.
