Pune : Man Pays Rs 4.11 Lakh To Get ‘0009’ Registration Number For His Vehicle, Know Details Of Amount Paid For Other VIP Numbers
Pune 30th August 2023: Spending lakhs of rupees to obtain favored license plate numbers is becoming a trend among vehicle owners. Many have purchased attractive license plate numbers at extravagant prices in order to acquire the newly issued registration numbers for their vehicles. In a recent auction conducted by the Regional Transport Office (RTO), a license plate number ‘9’ received the highest bid. A person spent a staggering amount of Rs 4,11,000 to secure this number.
Prior to starting a new series of numbers for registration, the Regional Transport Office usually engages in selling the attractive numbers following a standard process as per which those willing to book the number are invited for bidding. The cost of these numbers ranges from Rs 15,000 to Rs 4,00,000. When multiple applications are submitted for the same number, a bidding process takes place to decide the ownership. The highest bidder wins the license plate number. This auction process was held recently at the Pune RTO.
During this auction, the license plate number ‘9’ received the highest bid of Rs 2,61,000. The winning bidder paid an additional fee of Rs 1,50,000, bringing the total expense for the license plate number ‘9’ to Rs 4,11,000. License plate number ‘1’ was sold at Rs 4,00,000 as only one application was received for this number due to which there was no bidding for this number. Subsequently, the license plate number ‘9999’ was auctioned for Rs 70,000. With an additional fee of Rs 1,50,000 for this number, the total payment by the vehicle owner amounted to Rs 2,20,000, said officials. Among the other numbers ‘0007’ was sold at Rs 1,77,000 while number ‘0005’ was sold at Rs 2,01,000.
