Pune: Man Robbed In Baner By Trio Pretending To Be Police Officers, Cops Nab One Of Them

Pune, 11th December 2022: The officials from Chatushringi police station have handcuffed one of the three men who demanded Rs 5,000 from a man who stopped for a smoke by pretending to be a detection branch (DB) officer.

Dnyaneshwar Ashok Ghumre (26), a resident of Baner, has been arrested. Prince Chandrasekhar Mane (21), a resident of Shivshakti Chowk, Susroad, filed a complaint in this regard. This incident happened on the night of December 9 at half past nine.

Prince stopped at CM International in Baner to smoke a cigarette. At that time three people came there from a shop. One of them stopped the bike near Prince, and the trio beat him with their hands, asking him if this was the place to stop. They pretended to be DB officers and forced Prince into a carriage. They then took him to Pancard Club road. While one of them was threatening Prince to give them Rs 5,000 and the other was removing a weapon from the trunk of their car, Prince escaped from their clutches. From there, he hid in a place till the accused gave up their search and left. After that, he rushed to the police station and lodged a complaint about the incident.

Police said that after taking Ghumre into custody, he confessed to the crime. The Activa vehicle, which was forcibly stolen from Prince during the crime, has been seized.

The investigation team included PSI Nilesh Kumar Mahadik and Rupesh Chalke, and Tejas Chopde.
