Pune: Man Shot Dead Near Rakshak Chowk, 2 Suspects Nabbed
Sangvi, 23rd August 2023: A heart-wrenching incident transpired on around 5 pm at Rakshak Chowk, where a group of friends sharing the same vehicle saw one of their own fatally shot and killed. Within a remarkably swift timeframe of just two hours, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police managed to detain two of the accused.
The deceased has been identified as Sagar Shinde, hailing from old Sangvi, while one of the nabbed accused is Yogesh Jagtap.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Vishal Hire has provided insights into the sequence of events. Sagar Shinde and the accused Yogesh Jagtap arrived at Rakshak Chowk in a vehicle, engaging in a heated argument while inside. This disagreement took a tragic turn when the accused brandished a pistol and shot Sagar, resulting in his demise. The entire ordeal unfolded in close proximity to Bharat Electronics Limited company on the Aundh-Ravet BRT route.
Subsequently, the accused alighted from the vehicle and proceeded to the Rakshak Chowk, where they intercepted a motorcyclist. They seized the motorbike and fled the scene.
Upon receiving reports of the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Kakasaheb Dole, along with senior police officials, including Assistant Commissioner of Police Vishal Hire, swiftly converged on the location. The presence of an expended cartridge at the site was duly noted.
Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Choubey directed the mobilization of crime branch teams to initiate a thorough investigation into the matter.
Remarkably, Yogesh Jagtap was apprehended by the police within a mere two-hour span. At present, the motive behind the grievous act remains unclear, and a comprehensive police inquiry is currently underway.
It has come to light that Sagar Shinde had previously been involved in a murder case registered in 2013 at Chatushringi police station. The incident pertains to the murder of a young man named Somnath Vare.
