Pune, June 10, 2020: While the world is relentlessly making efforts by trying to develop technologies to reduce COVID-19 cases that has been on a rapid rise for past few weeks. A village in Pune district has found the solution in an ‘umbrella’. Yes, you have read it right. Not to beat the sun or protect from rains, residents of Manchar village in Pune district have come up with a unique idea to fight against corona infection. They have been using umbrellas to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in their area.

Umbrellas are being used as a tool to keep the distance from each other, hence helping them practice social distancing without any extra effort. Perhaps this is the reason why not a single case of corona infection has been reported in Manchar Gram Panchayat which has a population of 50,000.

The sarpanch of the village, Datta Ganjale, said “the lockdown rules have been relaxed. At the same time, a large number of people are travelling from Mumbai and Pune city. The risk of infection has also increased. Therefore it became important to ensure that the village remains free from this epidemic.”
