Pune: Mandatory Identity Card Requirement For Flag Hoisting Ceremony At Vidhan Bhavan

Pune, 12th August 2023: The 76th Independence Day will be commemorated on Tuesday, August 15th, as an integral part of the Amrit Mahotsav of Indian Independence celebrations. Marking this significant occasion, Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais will preside over the flag hoisting ceremony at Vidhan Bhavan (Council Hall), scheduled for 9:05 am.
Deputy Commissioner Varsha Ladda-Untwal emphasized the imperative nature of possessing a valid photo identity card for all private individuals attending the ceremony.
She said, “In line with directives issued by the police department to ensure the utmost security for the flag hoisting ceremony, all officers and staff members are required to carry their respective government-issued identity cards. Accompanying family members and citizens in attendance must also possess valid photo identification. Admission to the event premises will be granted exclusively upon presentation of the pertinent identity card. Notably, access to the premises will be restricted solely to private vehicles affiliated with the Divisional Commissioner’s office, along with other government officials and employees, contingent upon identity verification.”
Non-affiliated private vehicles will not be granted access. Permitted vehicle entry will be restricted to the premises until 8:15 am, with any vehicles arriving thereafter directed to park outside the designated area.
