Talegaon Dabhade, 15th June 2025: A tragic incident occurred on Sunday afternoon in Pune district’s Maval taluka, where an old bridge spanning the Indrayani River at Kund Mala—a popular weekend destination near Talegaon Dabhade—collapsed, plunging several tourists into the swollen river.

Preliminary reports suggest that due to the weekend crowd, the bridge was heavily loaded when it gave way. Multiple people are feared drowned, though the exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed.

Following the incident, teams from the local police, disaster response units, and villagers launched an urgent rescue operation. The region has been experiencing heavy rainfall over the past two days, which has significantly increased the water level and current of the Indrayani, making rescue efforts challenging.

The collapsed bridge is reported to be decades old and had long served as a pedestrian route for tourists and pilgrims visiting the Kund Mala area, especially during weekends and festive days.
