Kund Mala: Two Dead, 38 Injured as Bridge Collapses Over Indrayani River; CM, Deputy CM Promise Swift Action

Talegaon, 15th June 2025: A tragic accident shook Pune district on Sunday when an old bridge over the Indrayani River at Kund Mala, near Talegaon Dabhade in Maval taluka, collapsed, leading to the death of two people and injuries to 32 others, six of whom are critical. Several citizens and tourists were reportedly swept away in the strong river currents.
The collapse occurred amid heavy monsoon rains, with a significant number of tourists gathered in the area. The incident has prompted swift response and statements from senior state leaders.
Taking to social media, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed deep grief over the incident.
“I pay my heartfelt tributes to those who lost their lives. We share the grief of their families,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).
CM Fadnavis added that he is in constant contact with the Divisional Commissioner, District Collector, Police, and Tehsildar, and confirmed that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed.
“Six people have been rescued so far. Search operations are being carried out on a war footing,” he said, adding that all agencies have been put on high alert.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar called the incident “unfortunate and painful,” and assured the public that the state government will take strict action after a thorough investigation.
“Initial information suggests the bridge was in a dilapidated condition. If any negligence is found in its maintenance, appropriate and strict action will be taken against those responsible,” Pawar stated.
He also confirmed that medical treatment is being provided to all injured, and emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the affected families.
“The administration reached the site promptly and began rescue operations with the help of local residents. The state stands firmly with the victims in this hour of crisis,” he said.
The Divisional Commissioner has left for the site to oversee operations.
The NDRF, local police, and district administration continue to work jointly in rescue and relief efforts.
