Pune: “Marg Hakkacha, Sanmancha” Program Highlights Dignity And Rights For Marginalized Communities On World AIDS Day
Pune, 13th December 2024: Rev. Haribhau Waghmode Patil Pratishthan (RHWPP), an organization dedicated to supporting sex workers and their children in Budhwar Peth for the past 19 years, organized a special program titled “Marg Hakkacha, Sanmancha” (Path Of Rights And Dignity) to mark World AIDS Day.
The event aimed to shed light on the need to provide dignity, equality, and respect to marginalized sections of society while also emphasizing collective efforts to combat HIV/AIDS.
Sarika Lashkare, a representative of RHWPP, highlighted the importance of empowering the marginalized: “It is crucial to ensure that these sections of society have access to essential facilities and the support they need to live with dignity. Through initiatives like this, we are fostering a sense of confidence and acceptance among them.”
Advocate Shrikant Thakur echoed this sentiment, urging society to embrace equality: “We need to teach respect and equality through our actions and thoughts. By coming together, we can create a society free from HIV/AIDS while ensuring dignity for all.”
The program was made possible with the support of Samvad Foundation and other contributors, whose efforts were recognized and appreciated by the organizers. The initiative concluded with a call for more community-driven efforts to uplift marginalized groups and continue the fight against HIV/AIDS.
