Pune: Marijuana Worth Rs 13.6 Lakh Seized, 6 Persons Arrested By Anti-Narcotics Cell

Pune, 24 April 2021: A whopping 68 kg marijuana (Ganja) worth Rs 13.6 lakh has been seized by the Crime Branch of Pune City police from six accused including three women from Jalna district. Police have also confiscated the Ertiga vehicle of the accused persons.

While patrolling in the Hadapsar area, the anti-narcotics cell 2 of the Crime Branch intercepted an Ertiga vehicle near Srinath Washing Centre around 4 am today. There were three men and three women in the vehicle. After they failed to give a satisfactory answer about their presence violating the curfew, the vehicle was searched and marijuana was found in four bags.

Based on a complaint from constable Prashant Bomadandi, Hadapsar police station has registered FIR against the six accused of offences under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The arrested persons have been identified as Deepak Bhimrao Hiwale (23), Akash Sunil Bhalerao (27), Aditya Dattatraya Dhande (19), Hirabai Santosh Jadhav (40), Sarubai Ratan Pawar (65), Parvati Suresh Mane (57), all residents of Jalna.

The action was taken by the team under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Morale, DCP (Crime) Shrinivas Ghadge, ACP (Crime 2) Laxman Borate and Police Inspector Prakash Khandekar.

The team included Police Sub-Inspector Amol Gawli and police personnel Santosh Deshpande, Prashant Bomadandi, Chetan Gaikwad, Santosh Jachak, Sandeep Shelke, Sahil Shaikh, Azim Shaikh, Mahesh Salunkhe, Nitin Jagdale, Dinesh Bastewad, Disha Khewalkar and Kalyani Aglawe.
